Band and Key wants everyone to be able to browse our products, request a quote and contact us, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology.
The standard we follow
We aim for this website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard referenced for website accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
What we do
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a “Skip to content” link.
- Pages use proper headings, landmarks and labels, and every product photo has a text description.
- Text and controls meet WCAG color contrast requirements, and pages reflow on small screens and when zoomed to 400% without sideways scrolling.
- Form fields have visible labels, errors are explained in text and announced to screen readers, and focus moves to the first problem.
- Animations are brief and stop on their own, and are switched off if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Our downloadable product catalogue is a tagged PDF with bookmarks.
- We test every page against WCAG 2.2 Level AA with automated tools at desktop and phone sizes, and check keyboard use and menus by hand, whenever the site changes significantly.
Known limitations
- Some product photos come from our manufacturing partners and are lower resolution; their text descriptions are complete.
- The key card artwork template is a design file for print artwork and is not intended to be read by assistive technology. Ask us and we will explain the layout in writing.
